What Does DSL Do For Me at Home or my Home Office?

  • Download large web pages and files fast
  • Faster search engine responses and page refreshes on the web
  • Quickly send and receive email
  • Use your telephone or fax machine while still using your internet connection
  • And, unlike cable internet service, there is no sharing of the bandwidth you pay for with other homes and businesses, your DSL line is just yours alone.

And For Businesses?

  • Connect your network and provide internet access to everyone who needs it
  • Send email, receive email, even those with large attachments in record time
  • Do file transfers between offices and other business partners
  • Host your own, Email, Web and FTP servers
  • Conduct real time video conferences for business meetings or training

How does DSL work?

DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) allows standard twisted-pair copper telephone wires to become a high-speed digital pipe. Since most homes and offices usually already have this wiring, you can order DSL service without additional wiring. DSL was designed to use that part of the bandwidth not used for voice service, and it allows faster data uploads and downloads. When you use DSL, one part of your band is used for voice service, one for downloading data and one for uploading data. Since all of this is separated, normal phone service is always available regardless of whether you are using the internet or not.

What this means is that you can make or receive a phone call and work on the internet at the same time, even do a fax and never miss a beat!
